Why am I overweight and what I can do?

Why am I overweight is the question most Americans are asking today. For nearly 70% of our adult society is overweight or obese, we must pay special attention to our way of life to start changing our behavior before developing preventable diseases, such as hypertension. With Mississippi is the leader of obesity status, has now developed programs to encourage its citizens to get outdoors and exercise and eat healthy foods every day.

There are several reasons for excess weight. It may be due to have predisposing conditions, such as hypothyroidism slows down the functioning of our body, but it could also be simply due to overeating. Depending on your body type, you may need anywhere from 1500-2500 calories per day. Some people may need less if you are trying to lose weight and others may be more if you are trying to gain weight, but the most important factor is your metabolism. If you abstain from food for a long period of time, your metabolism will slow down.

Doctors and nutritionists recommend patients to eat every four hours to increase and improve your metabolism. People should eat three balanced meals each of the basic food groups every day and healthy snacks like an apple between meals to keep your metabolism stable. The longer you wait to eat, your metabolism decreases. The five basic food groups are vegetables, fruits, proteins, grains and dairy products. They must be consumed in the right portion size to avoid overeating and consuming too many calories.

In addition to eating the right amount of food, people need to consume more water. Your water intake should be half your body weight in ounces. So if you weigh 200 pounds, you should drink 100 ounces of water daily. Water is needed in the body to provide adequate hydration and flow of blood that carries nutrients to our body for continuous operation and disposal of waste from our bodies.

Exercise is an important factor that must be practiced every day. Doctors recommend that patients receive at least 30 minutes of cardio every day. This can be anything from jogging around your neighborhood to suck your home to increase your heart rate. Strength training is also recommended to build muscle and lose fat all over the body, arms and abs and biceps. Exercise the same everyday muscle groups is not recommended to prevent overuse and muscle fatigue.

Adults should pay particular attention to your eating and exercise because children imitate what they see. Children in our society have an increasing rate of obesity is closely adults. They spend less time outside running and playing sports and more time in the computer and video games. We have to go in the year in our school systems and in our communities to keep our youth active and healthy. This will prevent the early onset of disorders such as diabetes, caused by childhood obesity.

So if you feel you can be overweight, consult your doctor, and allow it to weigh and take appropriate steps to determine your body mass index (BMI) measurements. A normal BMI is between 18 and 25. If you are above this range, the physician must be on a weight loss program, or even referred to a nutritionist and / or a personal trainer to help you lose weight. This is necessary to avoid problems that may plague your body systems as well as decrease the metabolic syndrome may have damaged their bodies because of the weight gain.
